  • 4 hamburgers
  • 2 large onions, in thin rings
  • 4 tablespoons of Oliehoorn barbecue sauce
  • 4 hamburger buns
  • Couple of lettuce leaves
  • Pair of tomato slices
  • Sliced pickles
  • Slices of cheddar
  • Oliehoorn hamburger sauce

    Heat a skillet over medium-high heat with a little oil or butter.

    Add the onion rings and sauté until soft and golden brown in 10-15 minutes.

    Add the barbecue sauce to the pan and mix well with the onions.

    Simmer for another 2-3 minutes until the sauce has thickened a bit and the onions are nice and sticky.

    Fry the burgers according to the package, usually 3-4 minutes per side.

    Place a slice of cheddar cheese on the burger during the last minute to melt it.

    Slice open the buns and toast them briefly in a grill pan.

    Spread the bottom half of the bun with the Oliehoorn hamburger sauce.

    Place a leaf of lettuce on top.

    Place the warm burger with cheese on top.

    Spoon a generous spoonful of the fried onion with barbecue sauce onto the burger.

    Add tomato and pickle slices.

    Cover with the top of the bun.

    Serve it with fries, coleslaw or a fresh green salad.
